Old Bakery Dental

Hudson, NY

A dental practice in the building that fed Hudson for eighty years.

We took over the old Kessler bakery on Warren Street in 2016 and kept almost everything — the ovens, the tin ceiling, the smell of the place on a cold morning. What we changed was the dentistry. Same-week appointments, honest estimates before we start, and a team that remembers your name.

The building

Kessler's opened in 1931 and closed in 2011, and for a while the building sat empty with flour still in the floorboards. We restored the storefront rather than gutting it, which is why the waiting room has a bread oven in it. Dr. Marchetti bought the practice in 2016 after nine years in Albany, and the three of us have worked together ever since. We are a small practice on purpose — you will see the same dentist each visit, and the person who answers the phone works here.

Before you come in

Anything not answered here, call us on (518) 555-0142.

Do you take my insurance?
We are in-network with Delta Dental PPO, Cigna, Aetna and MetLife, and we file claims for most other PPO plans as an out-of-network provider. We are not currently taking new Medicaid patients. If you tell us your plan when you book, we will check it before you arrive rather than at the desk afterwards.
What if I do not have insurance?
About a third of our patients do not. We have a membership plan at $32 a month that covers two cleanings, exams and X-rays for the year, and takes 15% off anything else. No paperwork and no waiting period.
What happens at a first visit?
Forty minutes with a dentist, not a rushed ten. Digital X-rays, a full look at your teeth and gums, and then a written plan with real numbers on it. We do not start treatment at that visit unless you are in pain and want it dealt with.
I am in pain today. Can you see me?
Usually yes. We hold two emergency slots every weekday morning. Call as early as you can and we will get you in, or tell you honestly if you would be better off at an oral surgeon.
I really do not like the dentist.
You are in good company. Tell whoever books you and we will put you with Dr. Bell, book a longer slot so nothing is rushed, and stop whenever you raise a hand. We also offer nitrous oxide if that helps.
Where do I park?
There is free two-hour street parking on Warren Street, and a municipal lot on Columbia Street a two-minute walk away that is free all day.
Do you see children?
We see kids from about age three for cleanings and check-ups. For anything more involved we refer to a pediatric specialist in Kinderhook rather than pretend we are the right people.
